The European Business Transformation (EBT) team

The European Business Transformation (EBT) team is responsible for executing the European business transformation. The team works broadly, cross-functionally, throughout all levels of the organization to define priority opportunities with high level of organizational impact and manageable levels of investment.


The team is responsible for developing and maintaining the target operating model blueprint across the division, the change management plans, and associated benefit tracking and realization. The team will bridge any gap between departments and maintain strong communications across all aspects of the European division.


The role

The business design leader works to ensure that the business vision is met in design and each release, gathers early needs, focus on end user productivity gains and business value. The role is responsible for the target business and operating model blueprint, and drives continuous development, maintenance and detailing of the business and operating model blueprint. This includes definition of key common business processes, product and services, organizational structures, and the resulting requirements on supporting IT platforms. The business design leader also manages exceptions and deviation requests from the blueprint to make sure that we optimize commonalities.


The business design leader coordinates the business design across a set of centers of excellences that focuses on distinct parts of operating and/or business model to develop clear, well-documented playbooks to support process design, KPI definitions and use-case modelling.

Responsibilities and activities

The business design leader is responsible for the operating model and business model design within the European business transformation. The business design leader works across all geographies, protective services, and support functions.


Own and manage the blueprint for SSE business and operating model

  • Create a holistic target business and operating model for the European division that can be used as input to roadmap development, change and communication planning, training, stakeholder management and decision-making

  • Based on data and financial analysis, own the process for developing common ways of working, business requirements and the detailing of the operating and business model blueprint

  • Drive the continuous development, and maintenance, of the operating and business model blueprint as input to the roadmap, the organizational design, the change agenda and the IT platform development

  • Develop well-defined ‘playbooks’ across all business domains to guide the business transformation projects (covering process descriptions, organizational structures, role descriptions, KPI/metrics)

  • Define the data shared across the enterprise and the relationships between those data. Act as the business owner of the data and information architecture (and dictionary) during the transformation journey

  • Interface with SSE IT team, SSE divisional functions and SSE country representatives to ensure alignment and anchoring

  • Interface with Global digital transformation, Intelligent services, and other GITIS functions to provide SSE requirements and priorities and review how global capabilities can be leveraged to accelerate the European business transformation

  • Anchor and communicate the target SSE business and operating model to all key stakeholders in the program and its projects (project managers, change managers, solution architects, etc.)

  • Drive disciplined maintenance and up to date business documentation available to key stakeholders and project members

Set transformational priorities based on business value and critical requirements

  • Define clear business priorities, supported by quantified and data-based insights, to guide roadmap prioritization and business case tracking/benefit realization

  • Work with key stakeholders (legal, compliance) to solicit key requirements and input into the business and operating model design

Manage and lead business center of excellences

  • Manage and lead the community of business CoEs tasked with driving the detailing and implementation of the SSE target business and operating models

  • Define and implement structured ways of working, aligned with PMO process, agile frameworks and other best practices for the business design function, the center of excellences and product owners

  • Track and monitor the progress of the center of excellences

Experience and profile

The business design leader is an experienced professional with a background in interface between technology and business. The business design leader has experience from working in an international environment.


  • Relevant university degree in technology and/or business management

  • 8-10 years’ experience from driving technology-enabled business transformation initiatives, with recent experience from strategy development, business and/or operating model design, organizational development in an international environment

  • Management experience in one or more of the following areas: business transformation and optimization, strategic planning, leadership, business relationship management and business process management

  • Knowledge in all aspects of designing and constructing business capabilities, value streams, business processes, and organizational structures

  • Experience from design thinking, client journey mapping, and client and user research

  • Strategic thinking and planning: ability to juggle multiple goals and deadlines in the context of the big picture. Be able to translate strategy into cohesive execution plans and roadmaps

  • Facilitation, negotiation and problem resolution skills: Ability to build a strong network and relationships at executive levels with technology and solutions, customers and vendor groups

  • Strong business acumen; budget, cost and profitability management skills. Knowledge of finance, accounting, valuation and metrics development.

Reporting and level

  • Director level leading a team 8 people and reports to Vice President, European business transformation


Location

  • Base location is flexible but travel across Europe is essential in the role

  • Important locations; Paris, London, Stockholm/Malmö, Düsseldorf, Warsaw, or Brussels
